How to plan makeup appointment times
Set durations for makeup and trials, explain what each service includes, and leave time to prepare your station between clients.
By the Separalo team
Work back from the time the client needs to leave
Example: a 75-minute makeup appointment
1:45 pm
Makeup starts.
3 pm
The look is finished and the client can leave.
If the client needs to leave at 3 pm, 1:45 pm is the latest start in this example. State the duration at booking and include everything you do with the client.
Publish the trial as its own service
A trial may take 90 minutes because it includes trying and adjusting the makeup. Create that option in Services and explain the appointment: “Makeup trial: choosing the look, application and adjustments.”
A trial and event makeup can need different amounts of time. Each service has its own duration and price.
Publish event makeup as another option with its own duration and price. The name and description should make it clear which appointment the client is booking.
Explain what the price includes
Add photos of your work to the business page alongside the menu. Clients can see the makeup you offer and read the details before choosing a time.
Leave time to prepare the station for the next client
If you need 15 minutes to clean and prepare equipment, set that buffer under “After each appointment” in Services. The client books the makeup duration, and availability accounts for the extra time.
Add appointments you have already arranged to the calendar too. Review the published times before sharing the page, especially on days with several bookings.
Confirm the details of an on-location appointment
Send this through the channel you use with the client. Reserve travel as breaks and allow time to set up and pack away; Separalo does not calculate routes or automatically schedule a wedding party.
